Letting go of the past is hard. People changing their ways seems like an impossible thing. But when people do change, we question if it’s true or not. We always think it’s an act or this a motive behind it. So why don’t we let people change?
I think it’s more often that we want people to change the way we want them to change. We want to police the way people do things. I heard a message where the pastor talks about this so well. We criticize people if they change too fast or too slow. We don’t welcome people in before they change and after.
People change over time naturally. I know for me I am not the same person I was 5 years ago, even last year. If I’m different in a few month’s time, why should I hold someone accountable for who they were years ago if they have changed? I know there are people out there who might have hurt you and believe they can change is hard. I’m not asking you to believe them or forgive them but let them do their thing. If it’s fake or not, time will tell. But don’t get down to the level of talking back.
The biggest thing is that God is good. He can actually see our hearts. He knows when things are genuine. God can change hearts. He can do the impossible. God can change us. Think about our own relationship with Him. We grow and learn which allows us to change. It’s a good thing.
If people change, for the good or the bad, that is on them and God. We can’t put ourselves in the journey and dictate it. People can change and we should allow them to.
Rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
