It’s a pretty normal longing to want to feel like you belong somewhere. Everyone wants to have a place that they know everything just falls into place and there are people that fully embrace you. Everyone wants to have the place, a church, a room, anything tangible that makes them feel at peace. If you’ve kept up with my other posts, you would know I’m in a very transitional place in life. While everything is uncertain, the only thing keeping me going is the fact that I have God to depend on and people who are constant. Since I feel like I’m always commuting and spending time in a car, home to me is not a physical place but my faith and the people I have. When no place is home, God is your refuge. Click To Tweet
What does home mean to you? It can mean many different things and I think that’s what makes it great. It doesn’t have to be a tangible physical place and that should give you comfort. All you need is something that can provide some sort of sanctuary and it doesn’t have to be four walls. I feel like sometimes we take that aspect of God for granted. Yes, we can ask Him to answer our prayers but we can also ask Him to fulfill us in other ways.
The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe. | Proverbs 18:10 (ESV)
Sometimes the simplest verses can provide the most comfort. The fact that simply saying His name can give us some sort of reassurance. Our circumstances and situations make us feel vulnerable and there’s nothing better than feeling that we can run and hide somewhere we feel safe. God is so much more and this is just another amazing aspect of who He is that even when things seem insane and we may not be comfortable in our current physical place, He provides a refuge that can give us peace and make us feel safe.
It’s a simple reminder but when you’re jumping around place to place and not feeling a location click, God can give you stability and something to look forward to.
How do you find comfort when no place feels like home? I love listening in case you need someone!
