Fun Fact: I was actually born in East LA. That’s all, just wanted to mention that. Anyway back to the main point. LA is one of the most popular places to visit in the United States (maybe even the world but don’t quote me on that). There’s a lot to do in LA. With traffic and different activities, sometimes it can be impossible to do it all, so here are the musts.
Travel Guide: What to Eat and See in Los Angeles
What to Eat
You probably know about In-N-Out. Yes, make a stop there just to say you went but there are so many places to grab a bite to eat. This is one of the good things about LA because there is almost way too much to eat. From desserts to cult-favorite meals, here’s what to eat.
One of my favorite places, there’s even one down in Orange County. Lemonade is a fun lunch spot. Its main focus is fresh and healthier foods but it’s so delicious. Plus, of course, their lemonades are wild and so good. If you need a quick bite and get an LA vibe, this is the place to go. Check it out here.
I have a whole post on coffee shops across SoCal. The thing is that there are way more coffee shops than the ones mentioned in that post. There are always new coffee shops popping up. Fan favorites like Intelligentsia and Tierra Mia are a must. You will 100% encounter a cool coffee shop at any corner.
Jon & Vinny’s
This has become one of the musts in LA. Jon & Vinny’s is the must for your Italian food cravings. There are locations around LA but can get busy. Fairfax seems to be the most popular location. Stop by and pick up a pizza and get that Instagram picture in. Check it out here.
LA is home to a huge Hispanic community. I can honestly just say eat Mexican food and you’ll be satisfied. Street tacos are some of the most popular meals. You can find trucks on the street and you will get the authentic experience. Most of these places do just take cash so be prepared.
Salt & Straw
For the sweet tooth! Salt & Straw is starting to pick up some steam and has even opened a shop at Downtown Disney. They have amazing flavors that are twists on the classics. The ice cream is handmade and will be such an amazing treat. Check it out here.
Where to Go
The thing about LA is that there is a lot to see. Doing some cliche touristy things is okay here. Some of these places can be seen in La La Land. I will point out some of the must-do gems but also other things you might not realize you can do! Here is where to go.
If you want to see the Hollywood sign, I always tell people to go here instead of hiking up there. The observatory is also a fun place inside so you get the best of both worlds. It’s a lovely place to have a picnic during the day but it’s also so magical seeing the city lights at night.
LACMA Urban Lights
Another popular must. This place does get super crowded but it’s so pretty to see at night. It’s one of the iconic spots to now visit in LA. It’s a fun place to just stop by if you’re already around.
Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Garden
Such a charming gem! It can seem a bit out of the way but it’s a beautiful place to visit. You get all the beautiful views and you will for sure get a great Instagram picture for the feed. But it’s such an underrated place to check out.
OUE Skyspace LA
If you need a sense of adventure, this is a place. At a top of a skyscraper, you can go down a clear slide and get a unique view of the city. You can sit and relax here and just soak in the views. But if you want to live on the edge, try the slide.
