I went to Australia! I’m still in disbelief. I never thought I’d travel internationally, especially somewhere so far from California. It was truly the best experience and a trip I’ll always remember. Australia is definitely a country everyone needs to add to their travel bucket list. Heres my Australia travel diary to show you what I did on my trip.
Being at Hillsong Conference in Australia was insane! It is such an experience being in its home turf. I spent a good 4 days of my trip at conference and it was worth it. I was able to serve and got to pop in for some sessions. It’s still so surreal that I got to walk the halls of the Qudos Bank Arena and got to see my favorite speakers. Next year’s lineup is insane and I am considering coming back just for it.
There is no way you can go to a new country and not explore. Every day I was there was packed with activities. My friend who has lived in Australia for a few years was the best guide. I got to do the touristy things but also do things like a local which was fun. The Opera House was a must and it was so amazing to see it in person. I got to visit Luna Park, Darling Harbour, and Bondi Beach which are some of the most popular things. They were truly some of my favorite things.
I did also see more of the suburb parts and that was great too. It was a good break to experience life in Sydney instead of just doing “big” activities all the time. I got to visit Hillsong Church for a couple Sundays. The Metro was super accessible so it was easy to get towns over to eat and I did watch Spider-Man Far From Home in a theater nearby. I finally got to see Lany live and it felt so special being able to see them in a different country.
But I basically saw everything I could and did normal things people do. It was fun and it was fun to just walk around and see all the views.
Food options in Australia were very interesting. I would consider myself a picky eater but I had no problem eating in Australia. Yes, they have some familiar things like McDonald’s and Subway, but I stayed away from it. I tried a lot of places that are only in Australia. Surprisingly, I tried a lot of Portuguese food and I loved it. There are also so many local cafes that have food so it was nice to be able to have a good cup of coffee and a meal. And of course, I did eat Tim Tams and brought some home with me. They are so good.
I absolutely love Sydney and everywhere I visited. Ten days was not enough. I loved the slow pace of life and the feeling that I could walk around and go everywhere. It was such a blast to hang out with my friend and seeing how life is lived there. Honestly, this trip has to be one of my top trips ever. I won’t stop talking about it. Everything fell into place and I could really enjoy it all. Australia is such a gem and seeing it in real life was amazing. I definitely want to go back again!
I hope you enjoyed my Australia travel diary! It is for sure one of my favorite place I’ve visited.
