Everyone’s spiritual walk is different. But one thing we can all agree on is that it can be bumpy. There are seasons where everything is good but other seasons where a disconnect happens. Life can get busy so even if we don’t realize it, it just happens. It doesn’t always have to be for a major reason but the important thing is to get back to it. Here are some tips to refocus your spiritual life. Regardless of where you’re at in your walk, any tip can always help.
Cut Something Out
A lot of the time, the reason things shift in your life is because something is distracting us. For me it’s music. I’ve talked about how I fast from secular music every now and then. I listen to a lot of music and I can always tell once it becomes a distraction for me. So when I know my soul is needing it, I just listen to worship for a month and then however long I feel it after.
There are things that can seem good that can be a distraction. As hard as it can be, we have to cut it down. Especially when it’s a season you have to refocus. Your relationship with God will always be better than the thing you’re cutting out.
Set A Reminder
I don’t mean just setting a specific time of your day for your quiet time. Set up an actual reminder alert on your phone. I can’t have a specific time to set aside because my life is full so I usually have it for a time where I can have time to focus. The alert doesn’t go away until I mark it done so it helps because even if I can’t in that second, it will pop up until I do. So even if you can’t make your regular quiet time, this will help so you don’t miss it that day regardless of the time.
One of the hardest things to admit is that we haven’t been as focused as we should’ve been. I hate failing and I hold on a lot to the what if’s. All I end up doing is frustrating myself because I feel I should’ve been at a different level than where I am. Just be honest an assess where you are and start from there. The perfect thing about God is that He will always meet us there and the journey continues.
