I’m an overthinker. The thought of traveling alone always stressed me out. But having done it, I realized it is actually so great. It weirdly actually eased me so much more than traveling with a group. Although my future big trips might be in a group, I do think everyone needs to travel alone at least once. It’s something that everyone should experience in some way, even if it’s a small trip. Here are the benefits of traveling alone.
Here is why you need to travel alone! Click To TweetYour Own Pace
Probably the best reason to travel alone. You can do everything at your own pace. I’ve gone to Disneyland alone and recently went to Australia by myself and it’s been a blast. It’s great because you can change your mind, go slower or faster, stay somewhere longer, etc. This gives so much room to just enjoy your trip in a way that you like instead of rushing everywhere. If you’re going somewhere you really want to, this is a huge plus because you can just do what you enjoy in your own way.
Sharpens Your Skills
I feel like putting myself in the position to travel alone was really scary. But it helps to sharpen up my skills. Is it a sort of a self-defense mode that kicks in? Probably. But I know I became so aware of what I was doing. It put me in the position that I had to grow up and take responsibility for myself, which is a good thing. Traveling alone is a good way to toughen up, grow up, and learn to be on your own.
A Sense of Freedom
This seems really self explainable but it’s more than just being independent. For me, it really gave me a sense that I could do anything. I was so scared and anxious before I was dropped off at the airport (low key cried and everything) but once I got my own footing, I felt really good. It makes you feel like you’re capable of doing anything on your own. So even if it’s just a small trip at least once, try it out.
