I’m always listening to great music but not many bands break into my favorite bands of all time so easily. So this is why we need to talk about Lany because they just broke into my top favorites, which is not what many bands do. I’m also pretty darn happy that this will be my first music post of 2016.

I have actually briefly talked about Lany when I included “Made in Hollywood” in my fall playlist, but they’re just so good that they needed a whole post. There’s so many bands out right now that try really hard to show that they’re cool and that’s why I like Lany because they don’t have to try. Their music is effortless and makes you want to take long drives just so you can scream out the lyrics while dramatically looking out your window.

Their sound is very pop alternative but has those soulful vibes of R&B, which is honestly the best combination ever. They’re not too hyper electronic, which I find quite refreshing from a lot of new bands who tend to gravitate to that but they still keep it fun. Their lyrics are honest and sweet as honey, all while keeping their cool. They’re heading out on tour with Ellie Goulding and then with Troye Sivan, so this trio is getting the recognition they definitely deserve.

They also just released their Make Out EP which is a great point to start from, especially their stripped down version of “ILYSB.” So while I wait for the black Lany shirt to be back in stock in my size, I embedded it below for your listening pleasure. Enjoy.
