Get to know Abi Ann and her music even more in the interview below.
Q: What is something you would tell to someone who is listening to your music for the first time? What song should they start with?
Abi Ann: I’d tell them that they’ll truly hear my heart and soul. The recent EP, “17,” is a true representation of who I am as an artist and a person. The best song to start off with is “Future Ex-Boyfriend.” Although I didn’t write it, the free spirit it encompasses mirrors my own frame of mind. It’s such a fun and sassy song, the first time I heard it I couldn’t stop smiling!
Q: How would you describe your music?
AA: Aside from being a tell-tale of who I am, I constantly strive to make my music relatable. Whether you’re a huge fan of country, or just poking your toe into it, you’ll hear a number of little details that are similar to those of Rock or Pop songs. Lyrically, I would say each song has these wonderful quirks that we’ve made incredibly unique; I couldn’t be happier with this EP and what’s to come.
Q: How does it feel to be going on tour with Kelly Clarkson? What do you expect to gain from the experience?
AA: I’m still in shock! It’s all been very surreal. In fact, I don’t think I’ll truly grasp the entirety of it all until I’m up on that first stage. It’s an incredible honor to be on a bill with such talent, I get so totally excited just talking about it! I expect to gain some great friends, and of course, some amazing memories. To share my music with so many amazing crowds is a dream come true! I can’t wait to see all those beautiful faces in the crowd.
Q: At such a young age you have already accomplished a lot, what are some goals you have set for your career? Juggling college and music?
AA: Thank you! Some of my goals include releasing a full length album, continue touring, and overall just enjoying this crazy career and never taking it for granted. I am indeed planning on attending college at Belmont in Nashville this year, and I know it’ll be challenging to balance, but I have a deep passion for academics as well and am very excited to begin this new journey.
Q: What can people expect during your live set?
AA: You can expect to see some great musicians! My band is incredible, I’m so grateful. We are all up there to entertain and put smiles on those faces. We have a blast and it translates very well. You can also expect a lot of interaction; get ready to put your hands together!
Q: What is one thing you want people to know about you?
AA: I am pursuing music because it is my way of impacting the world positively. All I want out of releasing my music is to give people what music gives me, an escape. Music is my therapy, and I’ve gotten through so much simply by listening to songs that touch my heart. I hope to do that exact thing for my listeners.
