Hearing God by Nathan Finochio – Review

June 24, 2019Books
Received a free copy of this book for review. All opinions are my own.

It’s been a good second since I read a book. Hearing God by Nathan Finochio is the one book I knew I would make time to read. Nathan Finochio is the teaching pastor at Hillsong NYC and you should follow him on Instagram. He’s funny but I feel he’s one of the people that dig deep into theology. He doesn’t shy away from the hard stuff about the Gospel.

About the Book

Hearing God is all about communication. It looks at how God communicates with us and how we communicate with Him. People wish God can speak to them in a way that makes sense to them. Hearing God looks at the view that maybe people haven’t learned to listen. Through Bible examples and personal experiences, the book helps readers navigate the fact and myths that come from what we may think God says and does. Hearing God is written to help people strengthen their communication with God and how to actually hear Him.

My Thoughts

For a book that is about a topic that seems complicated, it’s a simple read. Yes, he touches on a lot of deep topics. He doesn’t try to make it sound like those theology books you need a dictionary with. One of my favorite takeaways is that he doesn’t regurgitate what other people have said about hearing God. The book navigates a lot of different perspectives that left me analyzing myself and my relationship with God. It’s a good book for everyone regardless if you’ve known God for years or just getting back on your journey. One of my favorite reads to help my spiritual life.
