Break My Heart for What Breaks Yours

I’m all for seeing big miracles. If God decides to move a mountain in front of my eyes, I’m all for it. I like to ask God things that I want to see, all good things that can help for good, but rarely do I stop and ask God what He wants from me. One day I was listening to Hosanna but Hillsong UNITED and this line just struck me, “Break my heart for what breaks yours. Everything I am for Your Kingdom’s cause.” This verse entails everything we should be doing, which is feeling the passion to see and help the world around us. That is a love that I feel we all need to exude.

So if we’re going to talk about love, we need to talk about the purest love, which comes from God. I feel like in the month of February we just think of the love dovey type of love and see pink and hearts. But God’s love goes beyond that. He sends His son to die for sinners. It wasn’t fun or colorful, it was painful and took sacrifice and here we are today always looking out for only those we want to.

Let’s look at Hebrews 13:1-2, “Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.” There are so many verses in the Bible about love, but I wanted to focus on this one, for the last sentence of the verse. Can you imagine turning your back on someone and then it could’ve been an angel? Crazy. This isn’t to guilt trip you into giving everything you have to the first stranger you see, but it’s to become aware that you should be extending love to everyone you encounter. I must admit I fail at this. I tend to look down and keep to myself, but I just hope to have compassion to accurately serve others. Love is not just giving a smile to someone. It’s going out of your way to show them what Jesus would do.

I love what Tayrina is doing sharing Jesus as her goal this year. I was one of those people who choose to do something to only benefit me, so I love that there are people looking out for others already. We need to ask God to lead us. We need for God to put a yearning to see people through His eyes so we can better serve others. Let us genuinely love others and serve without picking favorites or choosing how to do it. Love, just love everyone.

How do you plan to share the love with others? It’s something I need to work on, so don’t worry if you need to work on it as well. Let’s share the love!
